Removals Ashtead Surrey
A little about Ashtead…
Located in the Metropolitan Green Belt of Surrey, Ashtead is a leafy area with a railway connection into central London. Ashtead is well-known for its history of conservation with a large area set aside around the mansion Ashtead House which is used by the City of London’s Freemen’s School and other local schools. A football club and cricket club also make the town a lovely place to live.
Parks, woodland trails and recreational areas make up the majority of the area, with Ashtead Common the major spectacle. 500 acres of ancient woodland, populated with trees dating back thousands of years, has been located as a Site of Special Scientific Interest since 1955, largely due to its large population of birds.
Ancient roots also stretch back to at least the Roman times, with a Roman villa now excavated standing in the common. The site includes two ancient Schedule Monuments – a Roman villa and a triangular earthwork, and is a registered charity. Today the area is a popular Surrey location, a perfect place to live out of the hustle and bustle of the capital.
