It’s that time of year when the serious build-up to Christmas begins. Although the festive season seems to start earlier every year, it’s November when everything starts proper. The Christmas lights and tree go up. Every shop plays traditional and favourite festive songs.

Five of the Best Christmas Fairs and Markets in Surrey –

Deepdene’s Winter Wonders Weekend – on the 9th to the 10th of December, Deepdene will host the Winter Wonders Weekend. It promises to be one of the best events in Surrey this festive period. With real reindeers, live music, Christmas crafts and lots of food and entertainment for the whole family. Deepdene offers a unique winter wonderland setting. Get your tickets soon or you’ll miss out.

Christmas Gift & Food Fair – Guildford really is the place to be this Christmas. From Thursday the 16th to Saturday the 18th of November, the Christmas Gift & Food Fair takes place at the Guildford Cathedral. The iconic landmark will host over seventy stalls selling unique gifts, decorations, sweets, cakes, wines, food hampers and many of locally produced crafts. Guildford Cathedral caters for large groups and has excellent amenities, is easy to access by car and public transport.

Victorian Christmas Weekend – on the 25th and 26th of November, the Victorian Christmas Weekend arrives at Watts Gallery in Guildford. The Artists’ Village will fill with festive cheer, live music and the scent of Christmas. There will be lots of stalls where you can buy goods made by local artisans, as well as the lighting of the Lady Verey Oak Tree.

Priory Farm Christmas Food Festival – another November event, this time it’s in Redhill for the Priory Farm Christmas Food Festivals. It takes place on the 25th and 26th of November and hosts over forty of Surrey’s best food and drink producers from across the county. There are gourmet food gifts, award-winning ales and beers, Beckett’s Gin and other famous brands that call Surrey home. Now in its ninth year, this food festival is one of the most important events in the UK’s food and drink calendar.

Kingston Christmas Market – the Kingston Christmas Market begins on the 16th of November through until the 31st of December. This market is not your ordinary event. Traditional wooden cabins line Kingston upon Thames’ ancient marketplace, which adds to the atmosphere of Yuletide festivities. Festive music plays throughout the market, as you browse the various Christmas treats on offer. There are fairground rides for the kids, mulled wine to keep the adults warm, and there are Christmas craft workshops at the Alpine Village. And what Christmas market would be complete without an appearance from Santa Claus and his elves?
